Behind-The-Ear
(BTE)
These hearing aids rest behind the ear and the amplified
sound is heard through the connected earmould which is fitted
into the ear canal. Due to their size, in relation to in-the-ear
aids, they are able to cover a wide range of hearing losses.

In-The-Ear (ITE)
The largest of the in-the-ear types fits into the outer region
of the ear and are ideal for people who feel they might have
difficulty in handling the smaller models available. These are
also usually referred to as Full Shell hearing aids. |
 |
|
In-The-Canal (ITC)
These are less conspicuous than the ITE aids as they are positioned
further into the canal with only a smaller faceplate area visible.
They are typically available as Half Shell, Canal or Mini Canal
versions depending on what is required. |

|
Completely-In the-Canal (CIC)
These are the smallest of the hearing aids available and can
be placed further down the canal than any of the other types.
This gives the benefit of being almost "invisible"
with only a small extraction handle visible (which is made
from clear plastic).
However your hearing loss, canal size and shape will determine
whether this type of aid is suitable to you. |
