caring for your aid (selected)

Hearing aids are built to a very high standard and as such very reliable, however care still needs to be taken to make sure that they give you years of valued service.

Always make sure you clean your hearing aid after each time you use it to remove any wax which can cause damage to the instrument if left to accumulate. Cleaning tools are provided with your hearing aid but you can purchase wax removal sprays and wipes from us if you required. (Note - these are for external use only)

We also recommend that your hands are clean before handling the hearing aid, or if applying make-up or hairspray make sure that it is removed before doing so, as this is essential in preventing debris from building up in the microphone which can not only inhibit performance but also damage this important component. Even if your hearing aid has a microphone guard fitted we advise that you carry out the above as a precaution.

Avoid placing your aid in contact with any liquids. Submersion in water or excessive moisture in the ear can cause damage to the internal components. If you suffer from the latter problem then we suggest purchasing drying chambers and capsules.

When you are not using your hearing aid keep it in the supplied box or case and remove the battery from the compartment. This means you always know where it is and will help prevent it being accidentally damaged.

We advise that you have your hearing aids regularly checked and serviced by our hearing aid audiologists to make sure that it is always working at its best. And if you need any advice or have any queries about caring for your instruments then please contact us and we will be more than happy to assist you.
