caring for your aid

If you have a hearing loss in both ears then it is advisable that you consider having two hearing aids fitted as this will give you the benefit of a more natural, balanced sound.

The reason for this is that our brain uses both ears to determine where the sounds we hear are in relation to us by measuring the difference in strength and time between the sound reaching one ear and the other. However if only one ear is performing properly then locating where sounds are coming from becomes extremely difficult.

Having two hearing aids also helps when listening in a noisy environment, such as a party or meeting, by suppressing the background sounds further and so allowing you to hear the conversation better.

In general, two hearings aids will be more comfortable to listen with because what you hear will sound louder when heard with two ears. This means that you can reduce the volume of the aids which will also help reduce unwanted background noise.
